Jumicar Bristol Driving Licence

Each time that you come to Jumicar Bristol you can work towards getting a driving licence. This licence will show that you have completed a number of road safety lessons designed to make you think about what you do on and around the roads. When you have a full Jumicar licence you are entitled to a discount for future drives on a Jumicar track.
You do not have to complete the licence or any of the lessons but we will only sign a provisional licence when you have completed a worksheet for the appropriate lesson and paid for a corresponding drive. We have introduced this change to reinforce the road safety aspect of Jumicar. We want it to be more than just a ride.
The licence only applies to children who drive Jumicars so they must be between 6 and 12 years old.
Worksheets for each lesson can be obtained from the reception desk. They can also be down loaded from the relevant sections below.
Parents and carers are encouraged to help their children to fill in the worksheet - don't feel that the child has to do it on their own. We hope that it will be a source of discussion after your visit to Jumicar.
Clues for filling out the worksheet can be found while you are driving around the Jumicar track. There is a notice board describing the main points for each lesson which you can refer to. Also, some road safety posters are displayed inside the blue container.

Jumicar Lesson 1 - Start, Stop, Steer
In the first lesson we start with a talk explaining which way to drive around the track. Then the children get into their cars and we show them which pedals to use and how to steer the car. They practice this before they go onto the main track

Jumicar Lesson 5 - In The Car
In this lesson we discuss some of the things that children should think about when they are in the car, either as a driver or a passenger.

Jumicar Lesson 6 - Be Safe - Be Seen
In this lesson we encourage the children to think about the need to be visible while they are walking by the road.

Jumicar Lesson 7 - Instruction Signs
This lesson covers the 2 groups of road signs that tell drivers what to do. Those with a blue circle tell a driver that they MUST do something. Signs with a red circle tell a driver DON'T do something.

Jumicar Lesson 10 - Driving Test
For the driving test we ask the driver to complete a crossword which covers the previous 9 lessons. Then they drive around the circuit under observation from a staff member. They have to obey all the road signs and drive carefully to pass.
